From a spark to a shortlist
How SpinDot works.
Turn a project idea into a .si domain shortlist with SpinDot’s free naming wheel, AI suggestions, registry checks, and saved favorites.
Two ways to find your next name
Start with the wheel when you want a little serendipity. Explore a name that catches your eye, then open it for a closer look. If you already know what you’re building, use the naming assistant for a more focused set of ideas.
A useful brief includes the project, its audience, and a feeling or constraint. You might want a friendly sound, an understated name, or something easy to spell aloud. A category gives you another place to start when the brief is still taking shape.
Try a brief like this
“A calm planning app for freelance designers. Short and easy to pronounce, with a warm, human feel.”
The assistant uses AI to suggest names, with curated ideas available as a fallback. Suggestions are starting points for your own judgment; they are not endorsements, valuations, or a promise of exclusivity. SpinDot currently focuses on .si domains.
What the availability labels mean
SpinDot checks registration status against Register.si, the .si registry. Recent checks may be reused briefly to avoid unnecessary requests. Opening a name shows the result of its registry check.
- Looks available
- The registry had no registration for that name when checked. The name may still be reserved or become registered before you buy it.
- Already registered
- The registry reports an existing registration. Try another name; a registrar may also offer a separate resale listing.
- Confirm with the registrar
- The check could not establish a reliable status. An unavailable service or timeout is not treated as an available domain.
A check does not hold or reserve a name. The registrar confirms final availability and the current price when you register.
Save a few names. Come back with fresh eyes.
Open a suggestion and choose “Save for later” to keep it in your collection. You can save ideas in this browser without an account. Clearing browser storage can remove that local collection.
Sign in from Saved ideas to sync your collection across devices. Saving a name does not register it, and its availability can change while it is on your list.
Give a good name a little lift.
Sign in with Google to use the planet button to upvote a name. Each account gets one vote per name, and you can remove your vote if you change your mind. Saving a name in this browser still works without signing in.
Vote totals are public; voter identities, profiles, and naming prompts are not displayed. Votes can help surface community favorites alongside fresh, registry-checked picks from different categories. A popular name still needs the same availability check before you register it.
Free to explore. Registration is separate.
The wheel, naming assistant, and saved ideas are free to use. There is no subscription to explore SpinDot. If you decide to buy a domain, “Check price & register” opens our registrar partner, Dynadot, in a new tab. You purchase and manage the domain with the registrar.
We may earn a commission when you register through a partner link, at no extra cost to you. SpinDot is an independent naming studio, not the .si registry or a domain registrar.
